My daughter is called Georgia, she is My Sweet Georgia but it is not sentiment that draws me to My Sweet Georgia in Southwell's 2.40 (well maybe a bit). A good winner last time out, this horse definitely relishes the surface and today has the added benefit of title chasing Jamie Spencer aboard. I must admit some of the come late tactics frighten me but he was aboard last time out when getting the better of today's main opponent Madison Belle. Karl Burke has cleverly put on a five pound claimer aboard his charge, but he is up against Jamie Spencer, a daunting task for the young lad. 2.38 on Betfair in what looks a match up is good value. I am tempted to go to Southwell today, but worry I may end up claiming My Sweet Georgia and my wife would kill me, as we already have a field full of horses!
I fancy two others on the fibresand today. More Time Tim for Jim Boyle in the 2.10 looks to be set for the three timer. Impressive on his last two starts it seems only the prolific General Tufto stands in the way of a win today. The General was beaten last week and looks to have had a lot of racing in a short time. More Time Tim for me, but is now a shade odds on on Betfair.
Over the jumps there are a few short ones running today. Another very short priced one was turned over in the bumper yesterday. How will the three fair today I wonder. A treble would pay about 2-1, but would you take the chance? The three in question are;
Eradicate (5.20 Ludlow)
Gullible Gordon (3.30 Taunton)
Qozak (4.30 Taunton)
In fairness they are from reliable stables and should oblige, but I'm not taking any chances myself!
I usually give the evening racing a miss but have one eye on Wine n Dine (8.20 Southwell). I like this horse and think Neil Callan could steer this one home, although I will just put a bet on and relax for the evening without watching. The profits should hopefully be banked by then!
So today it is two at Southwell that are my feature bets.
My bets of the day...
My Sweet Georgia - 2.40 Southwell
More Time Tim - 2.10 Southwell
Cheltenham
Two weeks tomorrow it is the Gold Cup. I am definitely going, I have my tickets and I can't wait! Over the next few days I am going to get stuck in to the cards and will update the Cheltenham page. In the meantime those video features I think are excellent! Have a look, click the Cheltenham Link on the right. Paul Nicholls is very interesting when he talks about Denman and Kauto Star! It could be another classic!
