As it is my full time job I am taking a day off to spend with the family. As I am not racing today I thought I would post some non racing thoughts today!
I woke to watch the closing stages of the F1 GP. It was a one-two for Brawn GP, the old Honda team and Jenson Button won. I am not really a fan of F1, but it shows a valuable lesson and one of hope.
In February the team was dead, Honda were pulling out and 700 people were looking at the dole. In comes a new man, saves the team and in their first start they win and come second. OK so some people had to be laid off, but there is good news there for many. Jenson Button was out of F1, but here he is now a winner only a few weeks later. Well done and a good news story! We need good news because there is sadly little about in this day and age.

I picked up my paper this morning to read of a Building Society going bust and the Home Secretary claiming porn films on her expenses. How the world has changed! The sad thing is neither of these are shocking or a surprise. I was watching Life on Mars the other day and I have to say that if we had to explain what is happening in our world now to someone 20 or 30 years ago they would think that we lived on Mars. When you look at it things are far worse than they used to be. Are you shocked to hear of a bank in trouble, a youngster killed by another youngster, British Soldiers dying on a weekly basis or the seedy exploits of people in our establishment? Not at all.
I saw this week an interview on Sky News with the parents of a murdered 16 year old. Jimmy Mizen was his name. A decent family and a decent lad who was killed by what the police described as a 'yob' who was a total contrast to the Mizen family. What he was trying to say but couldn't was that the 'yob' was the lowlife scum now all to common in British society. The Mizen family are better people than me, I can tell you, I would be consumed with hate and a desire for revenge. They were dignified and said outside the court that Britain had become a society of anger and aggression and it doesn't need to be like that. He is absolutely right, but it is like that, it is a total and utter mess. There is a culture now that is just barbaric. How can this be reversed, society now is not old fashion British society, its somehow become angry and the city streets are dangerous. I live in a village and thank my lucky stars everyday that things are still traditional and quiet. How it got like this I have no idea, but it is not the Britain I grew up in and I am not even 40 yet!
The Home Secretary claiming porn on her tax payers expenses! Amazing and if she keeps her job after that it just shows you how far we have slid into a society so far removed from British decency! We will see but don't hold your breath.
There you go, normal racing service will soon be resumed!
