I have been told by someone who is very likely to be on the ball that Denman will not turn up to Defend his Gold Cup crown. The horse is drifting on Betfair, which is usually a sign something is wrong.Last year Kauto Star drifted amid rumours over a bruised foot, but given Denman's problems and his comeback run it would be no surprise, but the rumour mill is working overtime and it currently says Den man will NOT run in the Gold Cup!

ReplyDeleteI too have heard the very same thing, and a whisper from one of the owners intimated the same.
However, the news from Paul Nicholls was that he felt that Denman looked good for the Festival and that he would run, so its all very confusing.
I have to say that on the basis of the ailment that he suffered and based on his last run, I don't think he'll run and unfortunately, we may never see the best of Denman again ... but I do hope I'm wrong.

Yes, I agree looking at the Paul Nicholls Video feature it apprears he is keen on Denman. YOu wonder if the rumours are started to get a better price or if there is substance to it. I Think I will stick with Kauto. I think that Kauto was not 100% last year, he needs to be very Fresh and hopefully he will be 100% this time up. A week to go....................
