The Imperial Cup has been dominated by the Pipe's in recent years. Today I think Mr Thriller could take the race and maintain David Pipe's 100% record as a trainer in the Sandown 3.10. There are several interesting runners, but I expect Mr Thriller to prevail and chase the big bonus next week at Cheltenham.David has inherited all of Martin's shrewdness when it comes to taking the bonuses on offer!
I like two of McCoy's horses today at Sandown and think he could have a double aboard Fresh Air and Fun (2.35) and Song of Songs (4.20). Fresh Air and fun has 12 pounds better weight advantage plus McCoy back on top from the defeat by Zacharova.
Song of Songs has to overcome Deep Purple who like his name sakes is somewhat hit and miss. He was desperate last time out, pulling up which may be down to the way the race is run, a point I am sure will not be lost on McCoy.
I don't think Restless D'Artaix will like the ground in that 4.20 and is one to take on.

Starting next week I will see if I can make £1000 from a £1000 bank over the four day festival betting only on races at Cheltenham!

Are you one of those punters who go into bookies and purely back the highlighted horse at the top of the market?
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting Ruby Walsh has one ride today. He goes to Chepstow for KINGS FONTAINE. This horse has bumped into a few classy types including Bensalem and Cape Tribulation. Trevor Hemmings last 22 runners have all been beat inncluding - Kicks For Free (1/3 FAV), Cloudy Lane and Make Haste which may have something to the reason for Kings Fontaine ease in the market. He looks a massive price for a horse whose been crying out for better ground - as he struggled to jump out the bottomless ground last time.
Rob.
Rob, I back horses I think will win. If the market and the odds compilers have the same view thats not my doing. I dont frequent bookies either!
ReplyDeletewell said carl. Rob if you dont like this site or betting style then best to pursue your own. Have you read the Cheltenham pages? I think this is a great read daily. Ian
ReplyDeleteFrom Paul (Coventry).
ReplyDeleteThere are two types of punters. Those who bet on the form and those who bet on the price. Not sure who is right but it makes sense to back horses you think will win.
What I will say is that the bloke in the bookies will back anything and everything including cartoon racing. Do you really think this site is for those people? 2 or 3 bets a day is not a bookie shop punters mentality.
Why is Rob having a go? needless.
Paul.
Ian- thanks
ReplyDeletePaul- I dont think Rob is having a go at me, are you? I just took it as a question to which the answer is No. But I don't back very short anymore if you have read previous posts!
This week has been a bit poor and I have not managed to get fully revved up. That will change next week!
Thanks for the comments guys.
Carl
Read my question again. The impression gleaned from reading this blog had been nearly all selections are favourites or failing that very short priced not reflecting the true ability.
ReplyDeleteIf Mr Harris honestly fancies the above three horses - I wish him well - moreover if his reasoning has influenced Paul / Ian to have the hard earned on - Good luck because long term backing this trio at these prices will lead you to a poorhouse.
Rob.
Maybe its not for you then Rob. But thanks for the comments. Good Luck
ReplyDeletePeople back what they are happy to back. I enjoy reading this and if I agree I back if not I don't.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't do is have a go !
I Wouldn't even bother publishing never mind responding , but good on you carl. Have a good day mate. Ian.
ReplyDeleteyou may have got a big price on Kings Fontaine but you never got a run.
ReplyDeleteNot quite in the poor house. McCoy and the weight got that sorted! Ian. Good call.
ReplyDeleteMight not have got the price but got the result.
ReplyDeletePaul in Cov.
Thought we were going to get chinned on the line. I was happy with the price to be fair - took 3.7 on BF.
ReplyDeleteI find the first post baffaling. Its obvious that this is a personal Blog. And for me a bloody good one.
ReplyDeleteFrank Leeds.
Thriller is a better price than Kings Fontain!
ReplyDeleteMr Thriller is not "top of the market"

Enough said.

ReplyDeleteDon
McCoy is sheer Class. I missed his other winner. Must admit I have had a good day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments. Its a record on the number! Nearly 30! lively debate today.
Thanks again
Carl (yes with a C)
how can backing winners send you to the poorhouse? Maybe if you get obsessed with big prices all you do is narrow your chances of winning as the prices reflect the chances of winning.
ReplyDeleteeach to his own.
Good site well done.
Susan Duke. Viking member.
Thanks Susan. See you at Cheltenham next Friday?
ReplyDeleteyou might if I make through the previous 3 days!
