Maybe it is because all eyes are on Cheltenham, or maybe the racing this week is actually pretty poor but I just can raise much enthusiasm. Yesterday everything won, sadly one of the three was a lay but nevertheless it was a profitable day, but not very stimulating.
We have, at least us up North have, woken to a frost this morning leading to Carlisle calling an inspection for 10.30. It would be no great surprise to see it called off but I think they may be fine, but what do I know?
I don't have anything of interest at Carlisle, nor for that matter do I have much interest anywhere else today. I think the best bet of the day in Enfant de Lune (Lingfield 2.20) for Alan King and Robert Thornton. It beat a decent horse of Paul Nicholls last time out at Doncaster and the two were so far clear the judge could have had a cup of tea between calling calling the second and third home. I think that is rock solid and given the opposition the price still is value at 2.06 on Betfair. I see Sam Turner in The Mail has put this up as his lay of the day. A very good judge and someone whose opinion I respect, but its a brave man who lays this one. It may be that I turn out to be the fool who backed it, but I can't see how this can be a lay in this company!
That is more or less it for me today. Quickbeam (4.05 Wincanton) has a huge chance of following up on a good win last week and is a better price than I thought it would be on Betfair. 1.94 is bigger than my tissue, but Sound Accord is one layers are keeping on side. Its a match bet but I think Quickbeam will win. It it went to evens I would certainly invest.
I confess to not even opened the Wolves card. I have made a conscious decision to not get involved in AW night racing and I am sure I miss the odd opportunity, but it is generally very poor and I would rather not bother!
Lay of The Day...
Still reeling from yesterdays mishap. But today we lay Temoin (2.50 Lingfield), Pulled up in its last two starts, 4-1 looks a shocking price and one to take on.
