Its The Denman Show on Day One!
At last some top class racing! After Cheltenham with the exception of The Lincoln it has been fairly moderate stuff. Not today. Its genuine class as day one of three kicks off at Aintree.
Big Bucks (2.00) was a winner of the world hurdle, a very good one at that and comes here at a very short price. Last year Inglis Drever the hero of Cheltenham was a failure and it is a common occurrence that Cheltenham heroes down the years rarely sparkle at Aintree. So at 1.85 Big Bucks is one I am going to duck.
Walkon and Star Luck (2.35) were behind Zaynar at Cheltenham. The Triumph Hurdle winner stays at home for this but former top class flat horse Hebridean makes this a close three way match in the battle for favourite. It may pay to follow the fresher horse but Walkon looks a decent sort and may have the speed to edge this if he has recovered from Cheltenham.
The feature race at 3.10 is The Denman Show, back to form with a great second in The Gold Cup the horse could cement that with a big win today. Exotic Dancer was third in The Gold Cup but I think Denman will beat him again today. Paul Nicholls has said he is blown away by Denman's progress.
I will be ducking the next two races but having been on Chapoturgeon 4.55 at Cheltenham I am keen to see how he fares today, but it looks a tougher test. I will play small on this race.

Nicholls said: "While the track is tight enough for him, he is at least going the right way round.
"He has improved enormously since Cheltenham and he will be very hard to beat with a bit of luck."
So today could see the return of the Tank and it would be magnificent to see him win. He is a great horse. 1.96 and looks value to me. Well done to connections keeping Sam Thomas on board, brilliant!I will be ducking the next two races but having been on Chapoturgeon 4.55 at Cheltenham I am keen to see how he fares today, but it looks a tougher test.
