Very sad day yesterday. Although I finished ahead on the day the fall of Denman and the death of Exotic Dancer left a shadow over the day, but life goes on and the racing is fantastic today.
More Cheltenham heroes are in action today. American Trilogy (2.00) was a surprise but ready victor at Cheltenham. Interestingly it is former flat horses who have won this five from the last six runnings. I think this is more competitive a task for American Trilogy and he has a penalty to shoulder but I saw him win at Cheltenham and he murdered them!
I am a huge fan of Herecomesthetruth (2,35) a horse I think is one of the most promising novices about. This horse has been saved for Aintree and I rate him as a solid chance to land this prize today. Since going over fences he has won five from six and ran out in the other at Cheltenham when going very well. Very talented and a real decent bet, the Betfair price of 3.1 is huge. The feature race at 3.10 features Voy Por Ustedes. This one let a lot of people down at Cheltenham, including me and its pay back time! Master Minded got beaten in this race last year at short odds, by Voy Por Ustedes. Master Minded isn't a 2m 4f horse, Voy Por Ustedes is and looks the best horse in the race. He showed 12 months ago that he is tough, coming back from a defeat at Cheltenham to beat the 2/5 favourite. This is a race where horses have a good record in retaining the title the following year, it all points to VPU, but as we saw yesterday its a funny old game!
My mate Kayf Aramis (4.55) runs again and the track and ground will suit so he is a great each way bet to repeat the win at Cheltenham. 10/1 looks fair to me! Novices have won this for the last three years, and all of the last ten winners have carried less than 11 stone, and all the last 21 winners had 4 or more runs this season. I think Kayf Aramis has an outstanding chance.
